CHAMPS and Discipline in the Secondary Classroom
CHAMPS and Discipline in the Secondary Classroom offer both new and seasoned K–12 teachers practical tools for designing a classroom management plan that prevents problems, motivates students, and teaches students to behave responsibly. In this session, participants will identify ways to structure and organize their
setting and routines to prompt responsible behavior, clearly convey expectations for how to behave responsibly in each classroom, and use powerful observational skills and tools for decision-making.
These approaches are essential when working with students across the behavioral continuum, but especially for students who struggle with behavior, have experienced trauma, or who have disabilities, in order to create routines, predictability, and a positive learning environment. Participants will also expand their toolbox for how to interact positively with all students and correct irresponsible behavior fluently. Learn how to prevent and calmly address misbehavior while maximizing student participation and motivation.
This session is for classroom teachers and personnel who support teachers with classroom management (e.g., administrators, behavior interventionists, instructional and behavioral coaches).
